The purpose of this position is to assist with the activities of the CCS, which helps facilitate contact arrangements, supports children and their family members during changeovers or supervised visits, and provides a safe and secure environment for the child/ren.Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday 8.30am to 5pm) and evenings (10am to 6pm), with some flexibility, to meet the CCS program requirements. Weekend work attracts generous penalty ratesTasks for this role include facilitate contact arrangements, support children and their families during changeovers or supervised visits, provide a safe and secure environment for the children.Other tasks: Apply theoretical models of supportive human interaction, developmental stages of children, conflict resolution, and other relevant frameworks.Undertaking assessment and intake processes, including parent interviews, case planning and reviews.Organising safe and appropriate activities for children to maximise parent/child.Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for parents and children accessing CCS.About YouTo be successful in this position, you willHave Bachelor degree in the social or behavioural sciences is an essential requirement and preferrable with a focus on child development.Have demonstrated experience working with children and their parents/carers and theoretical knowledge of the issues regarding child development, abuse and/or neglect.Have experience working with people in crisis and/or parents in conflict.Knowledge and ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to family law and/or children’s contact issues is also required.Ability to work on weekend and evening shiftsPossession of, or willingness to obtain, a First Aid/CPR Certificate.What We Can Offer YouThe salary being offered between $84,426.28 to $96,580.61 per annum pro rata for part time, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. About the Role

We're currently seeking applications for the multiple permanent part time (22.5 - 30 hours per week) role of Children’s Contact Service (CCS) Practitioner (Internally known as CCS Family Support Worker) located at our Cairns venue.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will

  • Have Bachelor degree in the social or behavioural sciences is an essential requirement and preferrable with a focus on child development.
  • Have demonstrated experience working with children and their parents/carers and theoretical knowledge of the issues regarding child development, abuse and/or neglect.
  • Have experience working with people in crisis and/or parents in conflict.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to family law and/or children’s contact issues is also required.
  • Ability to work on weekend and evening shifts
  • Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a First Aid/CPR Certificate.
